Blog and Updates
Welcome to Upstate Postcard Archive blog! This space is used to offer updates on new postcards and anything else that seems fun. On a related note, have you ever noticed how some Post Offices are really interesting looking? Some of the Post Office locations in Upstate are really historic, too. Of course, many locations aren’t that interesting or noteworthy, but since these are the places where messages are intercepted, they have a rightful place among archived postcards.
Here on the blog you’ll find updates, Post Office finds from the road, and a bunch more!

The Village of Sandy Creek is a small one in Oswego County, located in a town with the same name. The population for the town is around a few thousand, with well under a third of those residing in the village. According to the Sandy Creek History website, this post office location was built on […]
New Cards From Oswego County
Now that warmer weather is here, flea market season has started back up. I had never been to the flea markets in Pulaski, so I woke up early on a Saturday morning and hit the road. A solo trip to Oswego County and back ended up being a great way to spend a day. From […]

The hamlet of Lakemont is located in the town of Starkey, New York which is in Yates County. It’s not far from the western edge of Seneca Lake, so this one can be found almost exactly in the center of the Finger Lakes Region. According to some sources I’ve found online, the population of Lakemont […]
Post Office: Wyoming, New York 14591
Wyoming, New York is a village located in the town of Middlebury in the northeastern corner of Wyoming County. The village of Wyoming is pretty unique, as it’s the only “gaslight village” remaining in New York State. Most other municipalities moved their public utilities over to electric in some cases a century ago. But, Wyoming […]
Post Office: Silver Springs, New York 14550
Silver Springs, New York is a small village in Wyoming County that you may have driven through on a trip to Letchworth State Park. In fact, that’s how I encountered this post office! After a stop through to see the “ice volcano” in Letchworth, I made my way up the western edge of the Genesee […]
Post Office: Alton, New York 14413
Alton, New York is a hamlet in the town of Sodus in Wayne County. If you’ve gone to the famous Chimney Bluffs by way of Route 104, it’s likely that you took a route north from the highway that brought you through Alton, and this little post office building. While on a road ramble with […]
Welcome to the Upstate Postcard Archive
Welcome! For years I’ve been rescuing old postcards I’ve found in antique shops, flea markets, and other random places. The images themselves are always an interesting look back, but I find the personal messages just as intriguing. Seeing images from the Catskills of the 1950’s is super cool and fun to explore. But the messages […]
